The Marilyn Swimsuit

Summer may be officially be over in the land down under..
but I'm not ready to let it go that easily!

Especially since I was able to get my hand on this “ possibly too perfect to actually get wet” Pinup Couture Marilyn swimsuit in royal blue!!

PUG know how to make you feel like a glamazon in absolutely every single creation of theirs and the Marilyn Swimsuit is no exception.
The Marilyn was designed with a few thing in mind...to be a vintage inspired, to flatter literally ever size and to be ultra comfortable.
I must say they have seriously ticked every single one of those boxes!

Being fully lined inside, the swimsuit defines your curves whilst the gathering helps hide every insecurity or imperfection. The top is padded and has built in cups which really helps with support, especially for us larger busted ladies, and the straps are adjustable. You can truly see the thought and care the PUG ladies have put into the Marilyn design.
Made from only the best Nylon/Spandex blend and available in 7 different colour choices, The Marilyn ranges from a size XS- 4XL and the sizes run true.
I myself got the size small and it fits like a glove!
The Marilyn is available from the Pinup Girl Website and retails for US $102.
Its a definite splurge but 100% worth it!

Little Pink Lady

The Banjo and Cake Embroidered Horseshoe Cardigan
and
Pinup Girl Clothing Doris Skirt

This is such a simple outfit combination, but thats what I love about it.

As soon as I laid eyes on this cardigan on the Banjo and Cake website I knew it would work perfectly with this skirt.
The bold pink with black featured panels, paired with a black bottom (also looks amazing with my black capris) makes the cardigan the focal point of the outfit.
I believe sometimes outfits can be overdone, and definitely in this case less is more.

Always a fan of the old faithful cardigan, I was extremely pleased to see it was beautifully made and with quality materials.
Made from a viscose/cotton blend the cardigan is extremely soft but incredibly warm, which is amazing as I hate nothing more than feeling like I need to wear 10 layers in winter.

Lets just talk a moment about how adorable the embroidered appliqués are..
Horseshoes, bows and birds oh my!
Im a complete sucker for a cute cardi, and this one just ticks all the cute boxes.
Cute colour.. check, adorable features... check, fitted and not baggy.. check!!
No wonder why I get so many people asking me where I got it!
I had been eyeing off a Doris Skirt for ages, but being a bit unsure as I normally go for the full Jenny Skirts rather than the A-line.
Seeing this skirt at my favourite local pinup boutique Misconduct I had to try it on..
well obviously I fell in love and since buying this skirt a few weeks ago, it has now become my go-to skirt.
Just like every other Pinup Girl Clothing, its made with perfection, the material is quite thick, which is great for a winter skirt (paired with a petticoat for shape and extra warmth) and has a slight stretch to it, making it ultra comfortable.

The Horseshoe Cardigan and many more cute designs can be found at

The Doris Skirt is available in many colours/patterns at

Keep Warm,

Daisy Jean Floral

If you've read some of my previous posts, you know I love to promote local brands. As someone who dreams to own their own small business one day, I just respect all the hard work that goes into creating something from the ground up.
Daisy Jean Floral is definitely a brand to applaud.
With their unique designs, reasonable pricing and fast and friendly service, they definitely have made waves in the pinup world.

I just couldn't resist the DJF Regal Ruth piece, the fact that I love roses and anything red  also seeing it modelled on my friend, Miss Chelsea Kate was enough to sell me.
This piece is made from one real touch and two silk roses, contrasting the red with a couple of rose leaves, giving it such a realistic look.

As soon as I opened the box the first thing I noticed (besides how well it was packaged) was the quality of the flowers, you can definitely tell that DJF go to great lengths to source top quality materials for each and every piece.

See below, As I caught up with Missi, Owner and creator of DJF, to find out what inspires her and how a love of pinup has evolved into making beautiful hair pieces.
Tell us a bit about yourself..

I’m a 25 year old pinup model and vintage blogger from Sydney Australia. I aim at promoting self love, body positivity, a healthy lifestyle overall and a positive attitude to life. Forever growthing through my love of pinup, I’m also a fitness enthusiast and a lover of all things ocean!

Tell me what inspired you to create hair pieces?
It actually came with the closure of Lady Rowe. Once she closed late last uear, I was struggling to find hair pieces that were primarily flowers, which has always been my preference. Plus I am really finicky about quality and wanted pieces that could pass as real flowers while keeping to a classical pinup/retro style look. I was also suffering from a massive increase in my anxiety and was trying to find an outlet to help sooth it, which crafting hair pieces provided. Not being able to find what I wanted, combined with an anxiety outlet was really where it started and it’s grown faster and beyond anything I ever anticipated.

How do you find time to create so many beautiful pieces, markets, Photoshoots and also have a day job?

A lot of sacrifice and time management goes into running Daisy Jean. I do work 8.30am-5pm as an administrator through the week as well as doing administration work after hours. A lot of the spare time I used to put into leisure activities or shoots for myself have gone towards getting photoshoots done for our website launch, product production and packaging orders. My Saturday mornings belong to Daisy Jean now for getting new supplies (no more sleep ins!) and my personal spending came to a crashing halt to help build my business. I am very fortunate to have a partner who understands the sacrifices a business requires too!

Lots of nights spend with the TV on, bent over my dining room table, creating pieces have happened in the past 6 months. Our first market in March was a HUGE success for us, which actually was the planting of the seed for our face of Daisy Jean program and we are excited to be at the coming market in July, as well as exploring other markets we can appear at! We’ve also begun to sponsor events, which is amazing! It’s great to be able to support events that showcase pinups and burlesque ladies strutting their stuff.

You've had such great success with your personal IG and now with the launch of Daisy Jean!!
So What's next for Daisy Jean?

Thank you so very much! I didn’t approach my personal IG with a goal for ‘success’ so its been amazing to take what I didn’t realize I knew and apply it to the growth of Daisy Jean! We’ve just launched our website, which has been received with amazing support! We have 4 big collections being released in 2015, the first being in June/July which is incredibly exciting! We are also focusing on growing our regularly stocked items and offering a wider range of limited one offs. Our customs side is currently booming as well, with bridal pieces and burlesque orders starting to be placed which is incredibly thrilling, as it truly lets me create something unique and special.

What are your favourite pieces so far?

My favorite pieces so far…oh that’s hard! I love our signature roses range! It took me quite a while to find the right look but I am so pleased with them! I’m also currently in love with a custom piece I’m working on for a Miss Burlesque Australia contestant, but I cannot share it yet!

You have approached DJ with a real professional sense, which definitely would contribute to its ever growing popularity.. what advise would you give to people wanting to follow in your footsteps and create their own small business?

Thank you. From the start I wanted to approach Daisy Jean as a business because I wanted it to grow into something bigger than me crafting flowers. For anyone who wants to start their own business I’d advise to make sure you keep track of everything! Statistics and numbers are your friend; they’ll let you know where your business is at. Also to remember that there is more than enough success to go around. Elitism is bad for business. Supporting other small businesses will help your own business. I promise!
I matched my Regal Ruth with the Red Jessica wiggle dress from Pinup Girl Clothing
I really loved doing this interview with Missi, it just made me admire DJF that much more!!

Winter Must Have.. The Turtle Neck

Lovers of the vintage and pinup fashion know exactly what Im talking about when I say it can get a little hard on the purse.
So this winter I decided to go toward the inexpensive but fashionable turtle neck!

I was a little sceptical purchasing my first one (the burgundy top below) online through Boohoo, but was swayed by the fact that it was called 'The Elizabeth' and also it was only $15.
When it arrived it fit perfectly and I literally felt like Elizabeth Taylor, suavely parading around the house!!
Devastated that it didn't actually come in any other colours in my size, I went on the hunt for more.. hitting jackpot at Temt (an Australian store with cheap clothing) I quickly snapped up 4 more, all for under $15 each!
This tempt top was on sale for $9.95 and fits perfectly, teamed with the Pinup Girl Jenny Skirt in Black and my Tony Bianco heels. Such a simple look can be dolled up with a brooch, bangles or even a statement shoe.
The Elizabeth turtle neck top from boohoo, bought for $14.95. Teamed with my Deadly Dames Capris from Pinupgirl Clothing, a vintage Glomesh Clutch and a handmade brooch made from a vintage watch face, a beautiful birthday gift from my friend.
This Temt top is such a perfect colour and goes so well with the Jenny Skirt from Pinupgirl clothing. A bargain top for only $14.95.
The twin to the blue turtle neck, I just had to have it in black too. Worn with my Laura Byrnes high waisted trousers from Pinup Girl Clothing. Such a simple look but so classic.
Again this top is the same as the black & grey one from Temt, also on sale for $9.95, wearing with high waisted jeans from JayJays ($30).

The turtle neck tops are so versatile and can be matched with any of your fav pinup skirts, capris, trousers etc. Being a snug fit they create gorgeous silhouette, so you can be stylish and warm whilst rocking those pinup curves.

I hope you all enjoyed this post.
Comments and feedback are always appreciated.

Hello Miss Monica

The Monica Dress By Pinup Girl Clothing

Lets all just take a moment..
To marvel at the utter brilliance that is this dress!

I have been drooling over the Monica for over a year now, wanting it in every amazing colour it has been released in (of course) but had never had the occasion to actually buy it.

So when we started planning our engagement party I knew that this was the dress!

Never having owned, let alone even tried on The Monica, I'd heard raving reviews from everyone who did. So with their knowledge and admiration for the dress I took a chance..
and when my FedEx package arrived (surprisingly quick too) I was head over heels in love.!

 Wearing Earrings from Lovisa
Literally hugging your curves, The Monica moulds to the body with ease.
I bought the size small and whilst it is a squeeze to get on (i simply step into the dress and pull up..seemed a bit harder over the head) its surprisingly extremely comfortable.
Wearing it all night at our engagement party, I had no problems at all with the dress..
well except trying to tell my sisters/cousins "no" to when they asked if they could please try it on.

Admiring the Monica for so long there was several things I noticed when I first tried it on. First of all there was the side zip, for some silly reason I thought the dress was stretchy enough that it just slipped on. But the side zip is one of the key elements of the unique design, an invisible zip which sits right in with the touching of the dress, almost unnoticeable unless you lift you arm (as I did in the picture below).
Also there is an amazing lining in the bodice,
which is a firmer material to really pull you in and
help create that marilyn-like hourglass shape.
Again it was something I didn't expect..but now I wish all my wiggle dresses had this feature!
All photographs were taking by my amazing cousin Clair in Morpeth NSW.

The Monica comes in sizes XS-4XL and is one of those amazing dresses that truly does suit every shape and size, its like every single Monica is sewn with a little bit of PUG magic to make every one wearing it look like a screen siren.

Pinup Girl have created an Iconic dress and every women needs to own at least one Monica.. or two, or five!

The Monica comes in 13 different colours and they are all so perfect.
Check them out now

I hope you enjoyed this post
