Winter Must Have.. The Turtle Neck

Lovers of the vintage and pinup fashion know exactly what Im talking about when I say it can get a little hard on the purse.

So this winter I decided to go toward the inexpensive but fashionable turtle neck!

I was a little sceptical purchasing my first one (the burgundy top below) online through Boohoo, but was swayed by the fact that it was called 'The Elizabeth' and also it was only $15.

When it arrived it fit perfectly and I literally felt like Elizabeth Taylor, suavely parading around the house!!

Devastated that it didn't actually come in any other colours in my size, I went on the hunt for more.. hitting jackpot at Temt (an Australian store with cheap clothing) I quickly snapped up 4 more, all for under $15 each!

This tempt top was on sale for $9.95 and fits perfectly, teamed with the Pinup Girl Jenny Skirt in Black and my Tony Bianco heels. Such a simple look can be dolled up with a brooch, bangles or even a statement shoe.

The Elizabeth turtle neck top from boohoo, bought for $14.95. Teamed with my Deadly Dames Capris from Pinupgirl Clothing, a vintage Glomesh Clutch and a handmade brooch made from a vintage watch face, a beautiful birthday gift from my friend.

This Temt top is such a perfect colour and goes so well with the Jenny Skirt from Pinupgirl clothing. A bargain top for only $14.95.

The twin to the blue turtle neck, I just had to have it in black too. Worn with my Laura Byrnes high waisted trousers from Pinup Girl Clothing. Such a simple look but so classic.

Again this top is the same as the black & grey one from Temt, also on sale for $9.95, wearing with high waisted jeans from JayJays ($30).

The turtle neck tops are so versatile and can be matched with any of your fav pinup skirts, capris, trousers etc. Being a snug fit they create gorgeous silhouette, so you can be stylish and warm whilst rocking those pinup curves.

The Magenta Marilyn

Heart of Haute, Designed and made in America from the mother daughter duo Teresa & Amanda Becker.

HH is 10 years strong and is just getting bigger and bigger!!

With their timeless designs and affordable prices its easy to see why.

I first fell in love with their Marilyn top when I saw it on the Pinup Girl Clothing Website, they were so popular that every time I went to buy one they had sold out.

Buying straight from the HH website, they always have the Marilyn top available AND in several different colours and patterns!!!

Well you know me.. I NEED THEM ALL.!!!!

The Marilyn oozes "sex kitten", whilst not having to show off too much skin.

Made from knit material it stretches over your body, giving you a flattering silhouette, it's perfectly designed to sit off the shoulders comfortably and makes for a "must have" wardrobe staple as you can pair it with absolutely anything..!!

Today, I paired the Marilyn with my black capris by Deadly Dames.

Hands down the best capris I have ever worn!

They make me feel so confident, fitting to my body like they were made especially for me. Having a small waist and bigger hips usually means pants are a "no go" for me,

But Micheline Pitt designed these capris perfectly.

Made for a stretch material with a zipper at the back (to really bring it in at the waist), the Deadly Dames capris are truly something every pinup needs to experience.

All Hail The Dolores

For those readers not familiar with Collectif, they are a company from the UK which specialises in gorgeous 1940s and 1950s reproduction clothing.

Versatile and original, made with quality materials and designed to look great on every shape and size..

Thats why Collectif is a must in every pinups wardrobe.

All Hail The Dolores..

Being a lover of Collectif for years, one style of theirs that I just can not get enough of is the Dolores!!

Designed to sit off the shoulders, the sleeves are fitted with elastic to securely and comfortably hold up the top, whilst the zipper (in both the dress and top) is designed to bring the material in and fit your body beautifully. Giving you the perfect hourglass shape.

The Dolores definitely should come with a "dangerous curves ahead" sign!

Ironically enough the first outfit to "pop my collectif cherry" was...

the Cherry Dolores wiggle dress!

It was love at first sight and 4 years later that love is just as strong.

My second Dolores dress was bought in London. I was searching for a dress to wear to Jim's sisters wedding and for the past 4 days and couldn't find a thing!

I had already been into the same Collectif store several times before but couldn't find what I was looking for. Getting desperate I thought I'd check it out one last time..and after trying on almost every dress in store (again) I had pretty much given up hope.

Then the sales lady came up to me with the black lace Dolores wiggle dress. I swear the heavens opened up and I heard Angels singing... This was the one!!

That was over a year ago now and I still wear that dress at every chance.

It's the LBD every girl needs in her closet.
