Bunny Baby Doll Dress

Banjo & Cake

Do you know what I truly love about collaborating with Banjo & Cake?

It truly allows me to get back into the rockabilly style I started on when I was like 18 and step out of my comfort zone of the "tradition 1950s pinup” look.
With the cutest jumping bunny print and the lace peter pan neckline,
this baby doll dress is just too darn cute.

Accessorise.?

Add knee high socks and adorable heels? Umm... yes please!!

Its so easy to complete a outfit without breaking the bank,
The socks were only $3 at Kmart and the heels were about $30 from Target.
Ohh and introducing my male model of the day...
 Odin
Hes wearing a old Led Zeppelin muscle tee and is pretty much the baddest pooch in town.

The Bunny Babydoll Dress comes in sizes Small to X Large and are definitely true sizes.
Measurements below:

Small: Bust 35.5 Waist 32.5 Length 31.5
Medium: Bust 36.5 Waist 33.5 Length 32
Large: Bust 37.5  Waist 34.5 Length 32.5
X Large: Bust 38.5 Waist 35.5 Length 33

The arm holes are great sizes too..!
I find with some brands they make the sleeves teeny tiny and if your like me and have more muscular arms they either cut off circulation or are just impossible to wear at all.

Thanks B&C for making arms holes for us pop eye armed ladies :) haha
Another reason I choose this dress was because it suited perfectly for hot summer days.
And yes Ive already been a "repeat offender" wearing this dress almost every second day, but when you look/feel this adorable.. who cares!
The Bunny dress lining is 100% cotton which means its super breathable, and the top layer is made from sheer polyester which is super soft and breathable.

Banjo & Cake only ever use the BEST materials for their designs, Im always in awe every time I open a package from them.
Pictured below Ive styled the dress to be a bit more fitted, as not everyone is a fan of the baby doll look.
Personally I think they are the best invention ever.. seriously I can eat as much as I like an no one can see the belly bloat! :)
Ive used some black ribbon I picked up from Spotlight and added a vintage brooch for a bit of bling and to add a focal point in the outfit.

You can purchase this dress from

Its even on sale at the moment

Only $35.24!!!

Daisy Jean Floral

If you've read some of my previous posts, you know I love to promote local brands. As someone who dreams to own their own small business one day, I just respect all the hard work that goes into creating something from the ground up.
Daisy Jean Floral is definitely a brand to applaud.
With their unique designs, reasonable pricing and fast and friendly service, they definitely have made waves in the pinup world.

I just couldn't resist the DJF Regal Ruth piece, the fact that I love roses and anything red  also seeing it modelled on my friend, Miss Chelsea Kate was enough to sell me.
This piece is made from one real touch and two silk roses, contrasting the red with a couple of rose leaves, giving it such a realistic look.

As soon as I opened the box the first thing I noticed (besides how well it was packaged) was the quality of the flowers, you can definitely tell that DJF go to great lengths to source top quality materials for each and every piece.

See below, As I caught up with Missi, Owner and creator of DJF, to find out what inspires her and how a love of pinup has evolved into making beautiful hair pieces.
Tell us a bit about yourself..

I’m a 25 year old pinup model and vintage blogger from Sydney Australia. I aim at promoting self love, body positivity, a healthy lifestyle overall and a positive attitude to life. Forever growthing through my love of pinup, I’m also a fitness enthusiast and a lover of all things ocean!

Tell me what inspired you to create hair pieces?
It actually came with the closure of Lady Rowe. Once she closed late last uear, I was struggling to find hair pieces that were primarily flowers, which has always been my preference. Plus I am really finicky about quality and wanted pieces that could pass as real flowers while keeping to a classical pinup/retro style look. I was also suffering from a massive increase in my anxiety and was trying to find an outlet to help sooth it, which crafting hair pieces provided. Not being able to find what I wanted, combined with an anxiety outlet was really where it started and it’s grown faster and beyond anything I ever anticipated.

How do you find time to create so many beautiful pieces, markets, Photoshoots and also have a day job?

A lot of sacrifice and time management goes into running Daisy Jean. I do work 8.30am-5pm as an administrator through the week as well as doing administration work after hours. A lot of the spare time I used to put into leisure activities or shoots for myself have gone towards getting photoshoots done for our website launch, product production and packaging orders. My Saturday mornings belong to Daisy Jean now for getting new supplies (no more sleep ins!) and my personal spending came to a crashing halt to help build my business. I am very fortunate to have a partner who understands the sacrifices a business requires too!

Lots of nights spend with the TV on, bent over my dining room table, creating pieces have happened in the past 6 months. Our first market in March was a HUGE success for us, which actually was the planting of the seed for our face of Daisy Jean program and we are excited to be at the coming market in July, as well as exploring other markets we can appear at! We’ve also begun to sponsor events, which is amazing! It’s great to be able to support events that showcase pinups and burlesque ladies strutting their stuff.

You've had such great success with your personal IG and now with the launch of Daisy Jean!!
So What's next for Daisy Jean?

Thank you so very much! I didn’t approach my personal IG with a goal for ‘success’ so its been amazing to take what I didn’t realize I knew and apply it to the growth of Daisy Jean! We’ve just launched our website, which has been received with amazing support! We have 4 big collections being released in 2015, the first being in June/July which is incredibly exciting! We are also focusing on growing our regularly stocked items and offering a wider range of limited one offs. Our customs side is currently booming as well, with bridal pieces and burlesque orders starting to be placed which is incredibly thrilling, as it truly lets me create something unique and special.

What are your favourite pieces so far?

My favorite pieces so far…oh that’s hard! I love our signature roses range! It took me quite a while to find the right look but I am so pleased with them! I’m also currently in love with a custom piece I’m working on for a Miss Burlesque Australia contestant, but I cannot share it yet!

You have approached DJ with a real professional sense, which definitely would contribute to its ever growing popularity.. what advise would you give to people wanting to follow in your footsteps and create their own small business?

Thank you. From the start I wanted to approach Daisy Jean as a business because I wanted it to grow into something bigger than me crafting flowers. For anyone who wants to start their own business I’d advise to make sure you keep track of everything! Statistics and numbers are your friend; they’ll let you know where your business is at. Also to remember that there is more than enough success to go around. Elitism is bad for business. Supporting other small businesses will help your own business. I promise!
I matched my Regal Ruth with the Red Jessica wiggle dress from Pinup Girl Clothing
I really loved doing this interview with Missi, it just made me admire DJF that much more!!

Seaside Siren

The Sea Garden Skirt From Banjo & Cake

When this skirt arrived in the post I squealed in delight because it was even more perfect in person than in the pictures.
I love anything with a cute and quirky pattern, and this one just ticked all the right boxes..
Seriously.. octopuses, squid, fish and seahorses, how could I say no?!

Discovering Banjo & Cake on Instagram, I fell in love with there rockabilly inspired range.
Usually I go for more of the traditional pinup look, however sometimes I like to branch out into edgier styles and I feel like the Sea Garden Skirt works so perfectly.
Made from silky poly/cotton material with a lining of a soft knit and tulle, which gives this skirt shape with or without a petticoat.
Designed with a simple invisible zip at the back, and the best surprise ever... pockets!!
From the picture below you can see how chuffed I was to discover those bad boys, I just think every dress and skirt should have pockets!
How adorable is this print...I'm in heaven!!
Ive teamed this gorgeous skirt with a top I bought from Forever New, a simple blue chiffon scarf, belt from Pinup Girl Clothing and Black flats from Target.

The simplicity of the red lipstick and nails create a beautiful contrast amongst all the blue and black, and its such fun look which can be easily dressed up by adding heels.
These photos were taken by my loving fiancé at the gorgeous local beach in Dudley, NSW.
Being such perfect weather and such an amazing location we were able to run around and get some amazing shots.
If you love this skirt, it also comes in a dress, leggings, socks, cardigan and swimwear (which is a personal fav)..

Check out this skirt and much more at

Dapper Doll

The Elvy Dress By Daisy Dapper

My first ever Daisy Dapper dress... The Elvy dress in Sand!

Wearing this dress last weekend I actually had a lady come up to me and ask if it was
true vintage!
Now this is an easy mistake to be made, especially with its 1940s design and the fact that it is made with the finest cotton/poly material.

Drooling over this dress on the Daisy Dapper website I knew it had to be mine,
the tough part was choosing the colour!
The Elvy comes in Plum, Sand and Salt/Pepper.
Such perfect colours, it was literally like having to choose between my favourite children (not that I have any)..
so maybe more like picking out a favourite icecream flavour...
hahaha what am I saying its always chocolate!!!
I have been searching for new clothes to wear for winter, and as I found out the hard way, the Elvy definitely keeps the heat it.  Being the thick cotton/poly blend and if I add stockings and a coat or cardigan, the Elvy will get me through the winter blues!
The Elvy features a high back and such a unique collar, the material has stretch and with perfectly positioned darts in the back, side and front, the dress moulds around your bodies  shape. With the assistance of the included belt, which draws in the waist, I was given a heavenly hourglass shape even without wearing a corset underneath.
Another thing I love about this dress is the the long zip at the back, it is an enclosed zip, so it doesn't open at the top, but DD have designed the zip to be long enough that the Elvy can be slipped on with ease.
I just love the detail on the Elvy

All Photographs were taken by my uncle Geoff and cousin clair, in my uncles backyard. Thank you so much to both of them for helping me out!

Daisy Dapper can be found on Instagram and Facebook,
where they constantly tease a girl with perfect new designs.
And check out their amazing website for more unique designs

I hope you have enjoyed this post as much as I have! Please remember to send feedback or leave comments as I love to hear from you.

Winter is definitely coming...

The Vivien Coat in Black by Hell Bunny

People who know me, know that I hate being cold.
Living in South East coast of Australia it gets pretty damn cold, not freezing temperatures (although you can drive an hour to see snow) but we get the cold sea winds which sometimes feel like they are going to blow me away!
So I have been searching for a coat that is thick enough to handle the weather but stylish enough that I don't look like the Michelin Man!

Say hello to the Vivien coat by Hell Bunny...

This coat literally makes me gasp every time I look at it, and when I wear it I feel like Elizabeth Taylor! Hell Bunny has truly outdone themselves with this one.

Now I actually received the Vivien Coat in Spring last year, and with our Spring being as hot as our Summer it has been sitting in my wardrobe, waiting patiently....
And with our last weeks of Autumn it was finally time to bring her our for her grand reveal!
First up it's incredibly warm, the thickness of the coat, the longer length, faux fur collar and cuffs..
I was a toasty marshmallow inside.

My favourite thing about the Vivien is the cut and silhouette, this dress was made to put over swing skirts and petticoats as the coat itself has a full skirt.
Having a full skirt itself it also falls perfectly over wiggle dresses and skirts, as the coat brings in the waistline and creates perfect shape and lines at the bottom.
I truly can not find one flaw in this coat, its perfect and I'm in love.
Now I will be honest and say it was a little pricey, around the $200 (AUD) mark, but in saying that most quality coats are in that price range, and if I have to pay a little extra for quality and durability I wouldn't even hesitate.

The Candy Apple Rain Dress

SHOOTING FOR SARSPARILLY- PART 1

I always feel so blessed when people ask me to do photo shoots in their products, I get to represent something that they have poured their heart and soul into.

Maria Murphy, owner/ designer of Newcastle based clothing label Sarsparilly, is one of the most genuine and beautiful people I have ever met. We work together at our day jobs and met through fellow co workers, both having a love affair with mid century fashion we were bound to get along and also both being shorties we definitely see eye to eye (yes I did crack myself up with that joke).

Maria is a woman who can juggle it all, creating gorgeous dresses and accessories, working a full time job, being a wife, mother to the cutest little boy ever and about to pop with her second child!

Sarsparilly dresses are all designed by Maria and made in Melbourne. Maria goes to the trouble of importing all material for her dresses, not only to get uniquely patterned material but also to get the best quality.

The Candy Apple Rain Dress

This gorgeous Candy Apple Rain dress by Sarsparilly is beautifully made with the finest cotton, featuring a side zip, full skirt and bow detail at the back. I wore this dress to work last week and can honestly say (after 8 hours of wearing it) that it is one of the most comfortable dresses I have ever worn (and also one of the most complimented).

This was one of the most fun photoshoots I have ever done, running up and down hills costume changes in the middle of the park and so many laughs.
Chloe was our photographer, she is one of Maria's long time friends. She is so professional and such a sweet hearted person(Check out her Facebook page below).

Please check out Sarsparillys website for all your pinup needs!!
